Internet in Bangladesh has been restored but students are still protesting the arrest and killing of students.
Bangladesh announced the restoration of internet services as conditions returned to normal following the end of student protests against job quota reforms, which resulted in nearly 150 deaths this month.
The protests, which began in universities and colleges last month, escalated into nationwide unrest. Thousands were injured as security forces cracked down, leading to curfews, army patrols on the streets, and internet suspensions to curb the violence.
"The broadband and mobile internet connectivity has been fully restored," the foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
"Other forms of communication, including land-based and mobile telecommunications, remained functional throughout the period of unrest and violence," the ministry added.
"The government assures all international partners that the overall situation is returning to normal, thanks to the timely and appropriate measures taken by both the government and the people."
The United Nations, international rights groups, the U.S., and Britain were among those criticizing the use of force against protesters and calling on Dhaka to uphold the right to peaceful protest.
